Visit Gandoca Manzanillo National Park & Beach
Gandoca Manzanillo National Park & Beach This 32 sq. mile reserve extends out to sea, protecting a coral reef and 17 sq. miles of marine habitat where several species of turtles breed. On land the refuge has the only mangrove swamp on the Caribbean coast, Cativo forest, and tropical rain forest all swarming with wildlife. Manatees inhabit the lagoons and estuaries. There are coastal trails and inland trails here to walk and afford unparalleled opportunities for spotting mammals and an astounding diversity of birds (at least 358 species), amphibians, reptiles and a rare Tucuxí Dolphin. This part of the ocean has riptides and is not safe for swimming.

Monteverde The Cloud Forest Reserve protects over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds and 1,200 species of amphibians and reptiles. Here you might be able to spot a jaguar, ocelot, puma, margay, oncilla and jaguarondi. The reserve has 8 miles of trails for hiking and walking. Only 120 people are allowed on the trails at one time.
